Mission

PROJECT 97b seeks to make Sanhedrin 97b the far and away most discussed, taught, learned, implemented, practiced text of our whole tradition. 

Every sicha, study, prayer service, community service, corporate, non-profit enterprise should place teshuva in the center. Teshuva tells us how to move: from galut (exile) to redemption, from division, derision and hate to deep devotion and unbreakable bonds. 

As rabbis for 25 years, we’re clear – Jews are fleeing and synagogues are suffering.  But why? Tefillin too anachronistic; Kosher too outdated; too much Hebrew? No!  Rather, we don’t invest in 97b. We Jews have no idea that there is one binding thread, one overarching reason for all we do as Jews.  We simply don’t know, Why do we?!  The singular purpose of Jewish life is to bind us together as a people.  But tragically, we don’t know it.  If we knew it, things might get better.

Success will be - במהרה בימינו - when you — Jews of all colors and stripes - lead the project of Sanhedrin 97b, making it our people’s most studied and applied text.

Project 97b is the project of every Jew and every Jewish organization.  

The word teshuva should be on the lips of every Jew and Jewish organization. 

Jewish organizations in America and Israel will appoint יועצי תשובה; establish these individuals as critical voices within their leadership.
